I'm lucky. My dentist's office is near Rockefeller Center so in the winter I can see the famous tree in all its glory and get my teeth cleaned. But I've got to tell you - New Yorker as I am - in year's past I have rarely looked up. Most New Yorkers like me are too busy pounding the pavement getting to and fro or using our cell phones while walking to bother to look up.
This year, though, I saw the throng of out-of-towners lined up next to the tree. Smile. Click. Hearty laugh. Smile. Click. Hearty laugh. It made me think, "Why are you so happy?"
So, I looked.
And, on a dreary wet December day there it was. As I clicked my iPhone - I felt most of all - hopeful.
